IDENTIFIKASI TANTANGAN PENGUATAN PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DAN PROFESIONALISME GURU PEDESAAN
Abstract
The problem in this article is that there is an educational disparity between schools in villages and in cities. This imbalance lies in the hand of strengthening character education carried out by teachers as well as challenges to the professionalism of teachers who teach in rural areas. The purpose of writing this article is to identify what challenges teachers face in strengthening character education as well as challenges to the professionalism of teachers who teach in rural areas. To achieve this goal, a theoretical study was carried out which was sourced from books, research articles, conceptual articles, and other sources. The results of the study show that equity in education in Indonesia still provides a record of the challenges of strengthening character education and teacher professionalism in rural areas. From this study, it was identified that the internal and external challenges of character education, namely: on aspects of student motivation, teacher competence, and aspects of the ineffectiveness of character education strengthening programs, and social aspects and aspects of "latah trend". The challenge for teacher professionalism in the regions is also related to how teachers must provide strengthening of character education. Not to mention, in education and learning activities, teachers have their own challenges in their profession as teachers. These challenges can be viewed from the aspects of teaching, professional development, aspects of the lack of access to educational services, and socio-cultural aspects.
